Heather Horning, Citizens Concerns About Biosolids
Heather was raised on a farm in Ontario and currently resides in a rural area in Middlesex County.
She first became interested in learning about sewage biosolids several years ago after experiencing respiratory issues and nausea relating to the noxious odour from a relatively small pile of sewage biosolids stored near her home. Gathering with friends and neighbours, they began to research sewage biosolids and were surprised by what they learned. They were also disappointed that the government was ignoring the human health and environmental issues relating to the use and storage of sewage biosolids.
Heather’s goal is to share this accumulated research, information and real-life experiences and encourage others to ask: Is it safe to spread municipal sewage on our farmland?

CAMA Student Chapter:
Since its inception in 2000, the University of Guelph Canadian Agri-Food Marketers Alliance (CAMA) Student Chapter has given students the opportunity to apply marketing, business and economic concepts to a realistic marketing plan. Each academic year a group of students are selected to work together to develop a professional marketing plan for a new and innovative agricultural product. A plan is created that includes a market analysis, promotional plan, placement strategy, competitive analysis, financial plan, monitoring and measuring goals. Workshops, professional meetings and events are also hosted throughout the year to help students to build and refine their skills in idea development, market research, product positioning and presentation building. At the culmination of the year, the student group travels to the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) Student Marketing Competition in the United States to present their marketing plan in a competition with more than 25 North American postsecondary schools.
